John Lennon Assassination Attempt- How Chapman Blew The Killer Blow?

It was on the 8th December 1980, that Mar Chapman attempted to kill John Lennon outside his house in Dakota, and as a matter of misfortune to the music lovers, Chapman was successful on his attempt. Today, after passage of 30 years from the date, the case still retains the mystery.

What appeared extremely strange to all the people, about the act of brutality, was that Chapman never attempted to leave the place after killing Lennon. To the utter surprise of the investigation authorities, Chapman was present in the spot till the arrival of the cops.

As a matter of fact, he was taken into the custody of law from the spot, reading the controversial novel catcher in the rye. The involvement of the novel in the incident though may be co-incidental, paves the way for the debate that the novel had influenced Chapman to prey on Lennon as it did to the stabbing of Ronal Regan.
